Program Overview & Description
Experience the raw beauty and the growing industrialization of a developing country. Despite several centuries of outside contact and a unique
ethnic mix, traditional Fijian values and customs still flourish. We will provide you with a cultural immersion that will give you a deep
understanding of what it means to be Fijian.
Our program spends 4 days at the University of the South Pacific in the capital city of Suva, followed by a 6-day field study which includes
visits to an offshore island and traditional Fijian village. You will be exposed to the cultural, historical, political, business, and social
nuances of Fiji.
During your trip, you will stay in comfortable hostel-style accommodation (like nice dorms) with other students in the group. Accommodation varies, but typically
rooms are shared by 2-4 students. We provide all meals throughout the program and all in-country transportation.
Since several major airlines offer a free or inexpensive layover in Fiji on the return flight from the South Pacific to the United States,
this program can be combined with either the 12-day program in New Zealand or the 12-day program in Australia for an additional 3 credits.
